WASHINGTON, DC— Congressman Bryan Steil (WI-01) recently sent a letter to President Biden expressing serious concern about the record high cost of fertilizer impacting American farmers. The letter highlights U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Director Samantha Power’s comments saying we should “never let a good crisis go to waste.”
Wisconsin is home to the best agricultural products in the world. Thanks to Wisconsin workers and farmers, our state is a leader in the agriculture industry. Wisconsin is known for our dairy products, but we also rank first in producing snap beans for processing, cranberries, ginseng, dry whey for humans, and corn for silage. The agricultural sector supports thousands of jobs across the state.
Malchine Farms in Waterford has experienced its share of challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as the fluctuating prices of crops.
Those issues the owners discussed Monday with Rep. Bryan Steil, who represents Racine County in Congress.
Malchine Farms was also supposed to host a breakfast on the farm this summer, but that was canceled due to COVID. They are hoping to host it next year.
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, the House of Representatives passed Bryan Steil's amendment providing $5 million for the Dairy Business Innovation Initiative, a program that allows Wisconsin farmers and dairy businesses to modernize the industry. I look forward to working on this agreement and finalizing a trade deal with Japan that supports our farmers and gives them access to critical markets."

BURLINGTON, WI—Today, Bryan Steil held an agriculture and trade field hearing in Burlington to discuss the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Steil and officials from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and U.S. Small Business Association heard public testimony from experts in the agriculture industry during a two-part panel.
