JANESVILLE, WISCONSIN—Congressman Bryan Steil joined Congresswoman Susie Lee (D-NV), Congressman Jim Banks (R-IN), and Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small (D-NM) to introduce the VA Telehealth Expansion Act.

“I’m proud to join my colleagues to introduce the VA Telehealth Expansion Act. This bill offers an innovative solution for the VA to partner with the American Legion, VFW Posts, and the private sector to expand telehealth opportunities for our veterans. Wisconsin’s First Congressional District is home to more than 45,000 veterans. We must ensure our nation’s heroes receive the care they’ve earned. I will continue working to support our veterans and their families,” said Steil.

Steil recently visited the new VA clinic in Janesville at 1141 Black Bridge Road to discuss the importance of telehealth. Steil also supported the CARES Act which provided $2 billion for the VA to support information technology to serve veterans during the pandemic.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, telehealth visits at the VA have increased by over 1,000% between March and June of 2020. The VA Telehealth Expansion Act improves and expands veterans’ telehealth access. This bill provides grants to outside partners to create and upgrade technology access points for veterans.
