Steil Seeks Wounded Warrior Fellow Applications
RACINE, WI—At an event with members from VFW Post 10301 in Racine, Bryan Steil announced that he is seeking a Wounded Warrior fellow to serve in Wisconsin’s First Congressional District.
“I’m excited for this opportunity and encourage all to apply. We’re home to more than 45,000 veterans in the First District and I’m committed to supporting them. Our fellow will play a critical role and focus on ensuring our service members, veterans, and their families have access to the federal resources and care they have earned,” said Steil.
The Wounded Warrior fellow will be responsible for veteran outreach, helping veterans who need assistance with the VA, and being a point of contact for local, state, and federal agencies.
The Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program gives congressional offices the opportunity to hire a wounded and/or disabled veteran to work for the U.S. House of Representatives. This is a two-year, full-time, and paid fellowship. The fellow can be located anywhere in Wisconsin’s First Congressional District.
The program is limited to veterans who meet the following requirements: honorably discharged, released from active duty within the last five years, terminal pay grades at or below E-5 or O-3, and 20% or greater service connected disabilities (waived if you have a Purple Heart). Veterans who are in receipt of a 20-year or Temporary Early Retirement Authorization (TERA) retirement are not eligible for the program.
