Steil Statement on Humanitarian Crisis Funding

June 27, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Bryan Steil released a statement following the House vote addressing the humanitarian crisis at our southern border.

"There is a humanitarian crisis at the border. We need to secure the southern border to address illegal immigration. We also must address the humanitarian crisis. I'm glad my colleagues came together to pass this necessary humanitarian aid. This legislation addresses the crisis at the border and gives law enforcement the tools they need. When Republicans and Democrats put partisan politics aside, we can get work done on behalf of the American people."

On background:

The House voted on and passed the Senate humanitarian crisis bill. It passed the Senate earlier this week by a vote of 84-8, with both Senator Ron Johnson and Senator Tammy Baldwin voting in favor.

Earlier today, Steil took to the House floor and urged House leadership to bring the Senate bill to the House floor for a vote.
