Steil Supports Bipartisan Bills to Increase Federal Government Transparency
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Bryan Steil supported two bipartisan bills to enhance transparency within the federal government: H.R. 1654, the Federal Register Modernization Act and H.R. 1582, the Electronic Message Preservation Act.
“Citizens deserve to know what their federal government is doing and how it is spending their tax dollars. Wisconsin does a great job of holding the government accountable and being open to state taxpayers. The bills I supported bring these Wisconsin-style solutions to Washington,” said Steil. “These bills provide Americans with easier access to federal reports and legislation and electronically archive email records from agencies within the executive branch. These are commonsense changes that keep government officials accountable, encourage responsible use of taxpayer dollars, and modernize current processes.”
