Federal Disaster Declaration:

September 11, 2025, President Donald J. Trump granted a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Wisconsin triggering the release of Federal funds to help individuals recover from severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, and mudslides that occurred August 9-12, 2025. Families in Milwaukee county can apply for FEMA assistance by applying online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362.

The IRS has announced tax relief for individuals impacted by severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, and mudslides in Wisconsin.

Deadline for Disaster Relief Assistance applications is currently November 12.

FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers Are Now Open in Milwaukee & Waukesha Counties:

  1. Waukesha County Disaster Recovery Centers

Reporting Flooding Home/Property Damage:

Milwaukee County residents:
Report any damage to homes and property through the county’s 2-1-1 hotline. Call 2-1-1 if you are experiencing property damage (ex. flooded basements or collapsed walls).  

You can also complete a damage report on their website - https://211wisconsin.communityos.org/damage-report

Note: Reporting damage does not guarantee FEMA assistance but may help with disaster recovery efforts.

City of Cudahy residents:  
In addition to reporting damage via 2-1-1, you should also report damage on the City’s website at: https://www.cudahy-wi.gov/community/report_a_problem.php

Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management has a 24/7 number residents can call at (414) 257-4709 regarding emergency response and recovery efforts.

Temporary Storage Facilities: Some storage facilities in Southeast Wisconsin are offering 30 days of free storage for affected residents, including self-storage rentals or portable storage units, which must remain on site at one of 11 locations in the area.

We Energies recommends assuming basement flood water is energized, even if it's a small amount on the floor.

We Energies customers can disconnect power by calling 800-662-4797 before starting cleanup activities.
