Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Bryan Steil (WI-01), Chairman of the Committee on House Administration, introduced the Stop Insider Trading Act. This legislation prohibits Members of Congress, spouses, and dependent children from purchasing publicly traded stocks. The Stop Insider Trading Act also requires public notice 7 days before a lawmaker, spouse, or dependent child may sell a stock.

Washington, D.C. (November 14, 2025) – Today, Congressman Bryan Steil (WI-01) voted again to fund the federal government and end the ongoing shutdown. This action follows more than 40 days of opposition by Senate Democrats, who refused to support the clean CR passed by the House of Representatives, causing a lapse in appropriations. This was the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. After the vote, Steil issued the following statement:
Washington, DC – Congressman Bryan Steil (WI-01) joined Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) in introducing the Withhold Member Pay During Shutdowns Act. This legislation prohibits members of Congress from collecting pay during the ongoing federal shutdown and deducts pay from members’ paychecks during future shutdowns. Steil has requested his pay be withheld during the ongoing federal shutdown.

Janesville, WI (October 16, 2025) – Today, Congressman Bryan Steil (WI-01) led members of the Wisconsin congressional delegation in asking Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers to end his opposition to the new federal tax credit scholarship program. Wisconsin families need approval from Governor Evers to participate in the new program and Evers thus far refused to grant that approval.
