Madame Speaker,
I am frustrated.
For 26 days, critical functions of the federal government have been nonoperational. Coastguardsmen have not been paid and there is no end in sight.
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Bryan Steil released the following statement after the House Steering Committee recommended him to serve on the House Financial Services Committee.
Congressman Bryan Steil will hold swearing-in ceremonies in Racine and Janesville on Sunday, January 20th.

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Congressman Bryan Steil released a statement following President Trump's address to the nation:
"I am frustrated with the logjam we find ourselves in. Providing the tools and resources to keep our homeland safe are commonsense solutions that my colleagues from both sides of the aisle can support. I am in Congress to work with anyone to get the job done and solve these problems, not to play political games with our border security and government funding. We must secure our border and end the shutdown."

Working for manufacturing companies in Southeast Wisconsin for 10 years, I know there are no political parties on the shop floor.
You also don't stop production or send employees home when a decision cannot be made. In the private sector, people come together to solve problems on time and within budget.
I also saw this work ethic as a member of the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents.
By staying focused on students, we were able to keep tuition frozen to make education more affordable for Wisconsin families.
Freshman Congressman Bryan Steil, R-Wisconsin, got a real sense of how serious it is to work in the nation's capital during his first day in office Thursday.
Steil, who now represents Wisconsin's 1st District after it had been represented for two decades by former House Speaker Paul Ryan, was sworn into office at noon eastern time on Thursday and went right to work addressing the partial government shutdown.
Steil was sworn into office on his family's Bible, which he borrowed from his 101-year-old grandmother. His parents and sisters attended his swearing-in ceremony.
Rep. Bryan Steil said ending the government shutdown was at the top of his mind as he took office Thursday.
The Janesville Republican spoke by phone with The Gazette hours before he officially replaced Rep. Paul Ryan as the 1st Congressional District's representative.
"I am firmly committed: We need to reopen the government," Steil said, but he added that will happen when President Donald Trump and the Senate resolve their "logjam" over the question of a border wall.
Bryan Steil, who replaces Paul Ryan in Wisconsin's First Congressional District took the oath of office Thursday afternoon and is ready to get to work.
