U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil, R-Wis., is calling on the federal Department of Veterans Affairs to conduct an investigation of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove three weeks after a trio of deaths of coronavirus-positive veterans living at the facility were reported.

JANESVILLE, WISCONSIN—Since the COVID-19 outbreak began in the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove, Congressman Bryan Steil has sought answers from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. In August, Steil called on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie to conduct an investigation into the outbreak. Steil received a response from Secretary Robert Wilkie last week.

JANESVILLE, WISCONSIN— Today, Congressman Bryan Steil called on the Director of the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) to address the backlog of services requested by veterans. The NPRC provides veterans with documentation on service history, medical history, and other information that can be required to obtain VA benefits. Steil has assisted numerous veterans in Southeast Wisconsin with this issue throughout the coronavirus pandemic, however, NPRC has yet to provide Steil or Congress with a timeline or plan on how it intends to address the growing backlog.

UNION GROVE, WISCONSIN—Bryan Steil urged U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie to investigate the coronavirus outbreak at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove. The Union Grove facility reported 20 veterans and 20 staff members contracted coronavirus, and three residents have died.

JANESVILLE, WISCONSIN—Today, Bryan Steil joined the Rock County Veterans Service Officer John Solis, members from the Veterans Administration Hospital, and Janesville VA clinic staff for the grand opening of the VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Janesville. Steil also received a tour of the new facility.

Rep. Bryan Steil, R-1st District, has introduced a bill that would increase federal spending on veterans cemeteries.

Steil co-introduced HR 5487, the Veterans Cemetery Grants Improvement Act, with Rep. Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan of the Northern Mariana Islands and member of the House Veterans' Affairs Committee, according to a Steil news release.

Sablan is an independent who caucuses with the Democrats.
