Shoreline erosion and the future of Medicare were issues before U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil Friday at a listening session in Somers.
Steil, R-Janesville, held five listening sessions during the day, each 50 minutes, in multiple counties throughout his congressional district.
Kenosha County on Friday declared a state of emergency due to recent storm-driven shoreline damage and ongoing erosion. Steil said he is committed to doing his part to help local areas receive federal resources, particularly as it pertains to assistance from the Army Corp of Engineers.
RACINE, WISCONSIN—Today, Bryan Steil announced the City of Racine received more than $673,000 in Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding to address homelessness.
"Federal, state, and local partners must work together to end homelessness. This federal funding supports Racine's efforts to help families and youth in need and increase access to shelter. Thank you to HUD's Midwest Regional Administrator Galvan for focusing on these important issues," said Steil.

"Hyper-partisan" were words that the Republican serving Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District used to describe the environment in Washington.
"Work is evolving and it's always been evolving," said Congressman Bryan Steil, a Republican who represents Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District.
Steil and Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester, a Democrat who represents Delaware, last week launched the Congressional Future of Work Caucus.
"How do we make sure that individuals in our communities are prepared for the jobs of the future?" Steil said that question what led them to create a caucus.
U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil wants to make sure successful drug companies can keep making money, while still restraining them to an extent so as to not exploit the average Joe.
Bryan Steil will hold five listening sessions in the First District on Friday, January 24, 2020. This marks 14 listening sessions in Steil's first term in office.
