New parents could benefit from a bill introduced Wednesday by a bipartisan group of lawmakers that included Rep. Bryan Steil, R-Wis.

The Advancing Support for Working Families Act would allow parents to get an advance of $5,000 on their child tax credits.

"The first year of a child's life can be one of the most expensive. Our proposal gives parents the option to receive additional support following the birth or adoption of a child," Steil said in a news release.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Bryan Steil joined Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (NY-21) and colleagues to introduce The Advancing Support for Working Families Act.

"Working parents deserve flexibility when dealing with child care costs. The first year of a child's life can be one of the most expensive. Our proposal gives parents the option to receive additional support following the birth or adoption of a child. I am glad to join my colleague, Elise Stefanik, in this effort to address the challenges facing young families," said Steil.

JANESVILLE, WISCONSIN—The office of Congressman Bryan Steil will host Staff Office Hours next week to assist constituents with federal casework issues. During the week of November 25, there are six options across the First Congressional District for constituents to receive casework assistance or share their thoughts on federal policy. On Tuesday, December 3, there are four opportunities for constituents to receive help.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, House Financial Services Committee member Bryan Steil (WI-01) introduced H.R. 5116, the Corporate Governance Reform and Transparency Act. H.R. 5116 holds proxy advisory firms accountable by requiring them to register with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), disclose conflicts of interest, and make their methodologies publicly available. Reps. Andy Barr, Denver Riggleman, and Ann Wagner are cosponsors of H.R. 5116.

Bryan Steil will hold a telephone town hall for constituents on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 2:45pm CT. Steil has held nine in-person town halls, at least one in each county in the First District, and held eight previous telephone town halls.

During the week of November 18th, there are 12 options across the First Congressional District for constituents to attend to receive casework assistance or share their thoughts on federal policy. Steil's office has held 37 previous Staff Office Hours.

Wisconsin is known as America's Dairyland but those family farmers who gave the state its slogan are vanishing.

The state lost 638 dairy farms last year according to Wisconsin's Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP). Democrats often put part of the blame on trade wars and President Donald Trump's policies.

Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and other Democrats unveiled a new report this week highlighting the fact that Wisconsin lost more than 1,800 dairy farms since Trump took office.
